# Monitor Tilecast Edge

Edge is meant to appear in the same Studio tools as other Tilecast Players. You should not need a separate monitoring workflow just because a screen runs Edge.

## Screen status and Activity

Edge reports connection state, the current presentation and item, schedules, Takeovers, synchronization, playback progress, and available hardware features.

Use [screen status](../../operations/screen-status/) for the normal Fleet status meanings and [Activity](../../operations/activity/) for playback history and incidents.

Activity events that cannot be sent during a temporary outage are kept locally and retried after the Player reconnects.

## Telemetry

Edge reports Player health information such as connection and playback state, renderer state, content-cache use, storage, uptime, clock offset, and supported display measurements.

## Live preview

The M8 work adds live preview from the WPE renderer through Tilecast's existing preview flow. Setup, pairing, and safe-mode screens do not appear as a normal content preview.

When an Edge screen needs attention, start with Fleet, Activity, and live preview. Check local status and system logs when Studio does not show enough information.
