Media uploads and processing

If an upload was interrupted, select the original file again. It must have the same name and size as the file that started the upload.

Tilecast resumes from the upload position saved by the server instead of starting from a guessed position.

Open the asset and read the processing error.

Tilecast Server needs writable media storage and working FFmpeg and FFprobe tools. Check /readyz if the media-processing dependencies themselves are unavailable.

The production container already includes the media tools and runs without root privileges. Running the entire server as root is not the normal fix for a media-processing problem.

If processing was interrupted while Tilecast was finishing a file move, leave the database record and media/temp storage in place so recovery can finish. Do not manually delete an item that is still marked as finalizing.

Free some storage or reduce the upload size before retrying.

Keep the database and tilecast_data media volume from the same point in time when restoring a backup. Restoring only one can leave database records without files, or files without matching records.

The asset must be Ready and have a playback file the Player can use.

A Player rejects an incomplete or corrupt download instead of using it for playback.

Use Activity to tell the difference between a server-side processing problem and a Player download or playback problem.
